It is considered that the internet is increasingly being used to deal with personal problems among a significant number of young people. While some argue that it is the best option to discuss personal issues without feeling anxious, others contend that young individuals can be influenced by those with bad intentions. These perspectives will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
Firstly, many life problems can be linked to one’s social environment, which makes it difficult for young people to find appropriate individuals to confide in. Youngsters may find themselves among toxic or inappropriate people who can manipulate or exploit them without their realization. When youth cannot find someone who can offer sound advice, they tend to suffer alone instead of seeking solutions. For example, some individuals may engage only in superficial friendships, preventing them from distinguishing between genuine and fake friends, which leads to experiences of betrayal. As a result, this can escalate into more serious personal problems in the future. In such cases, searching for answers online among others who have felt the same way becomes the only viable option.
On the other hand, social media is not a fully trustworthy source for finding solutions. In fact, the images and information shared by users can be misleading, leading to poor advice and misguided actions. For instance, some ill-intentioned individuals can exploit young people by manipulating the information they share about their problems for their own benefit. Consequently, young people can find themselves entangled in even more issues while attempting to solve their initial problems.
To conclude, I believe that seeking advice from others can help alleviate personal challenges. However, young people should maintain their own perspectives and not place complete trust in strangers.
