Compared to prior young generations, millennials in the modern world seem to be more powerful and influential. In my opinion, it might be due to the presence of technology and its effects on the relationship between older and younger people in terms of how each generation communicates.
Nowadays, teenagers appear to possess more capability and impact than any previous generation of adults. This may be caused by the existence of technology and social media. In this 4.0 revolution, the current young generation was born with technology, specifically smartphones. By growing up with smartphones, they can easily access live information and browse whatever they want to know. Moreover, social media also plays a major role . Having a better understanding of and using social media as a place to interact with others, young people can share information on social media that can go viral. It consequently makes those sharing information able to influence other people and become famous.
On the other hand, young people now look more powerful and influential than prior generations of teenagers, and this has implications for the relationship between older and younger generations by affecting how young people communicate with older people online and offline. For example, communicating online is the preference of teenagers interacting with elders, no matter the distance, and it has been normalized as a polite way to have a conversation by the young generation, while older people assume that online communication is acceptable only when there is a distance. Subsequently, offline, the ethical standards of young people speaking with elders are totally different from those of older people. This results in misunderstandings and can worsen the situation .
