In modern society, celebrities have a strong influence on young generations’ habits. So, there is a view that famous people should only advertise healthy food and drinks and that they should be prohibited from advertising unhealthy habits such as smoking. I am point of view that this is a negative thought.
One of the major reasons for my disagreement is that young people affected by many factors except celebrities’ advertisements, including schools, teachers, friends, and family. For example, a teenager who is raised in a family that has a healthy diet is less likely to copy a celebrity who advertises harmful food. And their habits may change due to their friends’ influences. For instance, their friends unhealthy lifestyles and bad habits can impact them, including smoking and drinking alcohol. Furthermore, schools provide education about healthy lifestyles and nutrition, which means that young people are not only influenced by advertisements Additionally, blaming celebrities for influencing teenagers means’ that people have an unhealthy lifestyles.
Another main reason is that famous people have the right to choose what they want to promote. Restricting them to only advertising healthy food may limit their freedom of expression and harm their careers. Instead of banning certain advertisements, the government can set time restrictions for showing advertisements of unhealthy products on television. This approach can protect young generations while still allowing celebrities the freedom to work.
In conclusion, while famous people do influence young people in some ways, many other factors also impact their behavior. It is better to expand education and regulate advertisements rather than to restrict the rights of celebrities.
