Band 5: Your local newspaper is experiencing low sales of its newspapers since many readers are now choosing the online version. Its current number of online subscribers is now three times the number of print subscribers. The newspaper has sent a survey to all of its print and online subscribers to see whether there is enough demand to keep the print version. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

I firmly believe that producing newspaper in both the versions are equally important considering multifarious reasons. In the following paragraphs, I will elucidate and substantiate my preference.

Due to the increase of technology, people are receiving the news based on their preference. What further solidifies my conviction is the fact that, people can access online versions wherever and whenever they want. That would the reason why the sales got increased for the online version recently. Consequently, it is clear that having online version would benefit for both the newspaper agency and to the people.

On the other hand, there are few people who doesn’t prefer to read the news from their mobiles, stands as a crucial factor to have printed versions. Consider my grandfather who used to gain information from printed newspaper from his childhood. All of a sudden he can’t adopt to the latest technology. This scenario perfectly exemplifies the practicality and effectiveness of having a printed version.

Considering all the aforementioned reasons, I am convinced and strongly affirm that generating print and online versions are prudent and advantageous to the readers as well as to the agency.
