It is often argued by some individuals that, films should serve for entertaining, while others hold the perception that movies should be educational. I strongly agree to the latter ,and in this essay, l will support my opinion with examples.
On the one hand, movies are form of entertainment to people . Every home owns a television, most people switch to watch after a long day’s work as a way to release stress and have fun . This helps to ease boredom and depression through the laughs from the movie . For example, research conducted by students from the Maritime university indicates a reduction in depression cases from 56% to 25% as a result of watching movies to get entertained . Also this help the entertainment industry gain more money as majority of the citizens will watch their scenes .
On the other hand, films and television programs have very strong effect on the mind of the audiences. Many people moral values are influenced by what they watch , so the content should be educative to help shape citizens well into the society. In addition, children can learn about the right and wrongs from the cartoons that watch , likewise adult from the programmed watch on TV. For example, watching movies about war , protest a sense if patriotism in individuals , which is a good educational effect.
In conclusion, although movies can be watch for fun , l strongly believe the educational factor to the public is a key for personal and social development.
