The chart shows the number of boys and girls engaging in six sports activities in one English town in
the year 2012.
Overall, boys outnumbered girls in the majority of sports types and were more interested in football,with the highest number of girls choosing swimming. Both genders did not show interest in hockey. As for the kinds of sports more preferred by boys, 60 of them chose football, as opposed to just 20 girls, which is the biggest gap between genders. Most young tennis players were also boys: 50 of them chose to play this sport. Cycling was another activity in which the male gender prevailed over females; the respective figures for them were around 40 and 20. Even the least preferred activity hockey attracted almost twice as many boys as girls. Girls were involved in the remaining two sectors more than boys; although 40 boys chose swimming, this was the top choice for girls, at 50. The second activity with the high attendance of female participants was badminton, with 40 girls playing it.
