The given map illustrates the changes that took place in the seaside area of a town called Darwin from 2009 to 2014.
Overall, the waterfront area underwent a number of dramatic modifications, the most important of which were the demolition of an industrial area to make way for a forested region and a tertiary institution, and the expansion of residential areas catering to an increasing population.
Looking at the map in more detail, in 2009, the southern part of Darwin was largely occupied by an industrial park, with three residential complexes located right above. After five years, the industrial area was completely replaced with forests and a university building. In addition, the residential area was extended to accommodate more dwellers. Another noticeable transformation took place along the coast, where a new harbor was constructed, while a swimming pool located adjacent to it remained unchanged. Moreover, a new footpath running from the southwest to the new harbor was built.
Regarding the northern part, some noticeable changes took place between 2009 and 2014. Specifically, part of the industrial area near the lake was removed to make space for a new swimming pool, located adjacent to the existing lake. Meanwhile, other facilities such as the convention center, the school, the fishing area, and the original swimming pool remained unchanged during this period. The footpath surrounding the lake was also preserved.
