The line graph illustrates the number of inquiries made to the Tourist Information Office in a particular city over six months in 2011, classified by three methods: in person, by telephone and by letter or email.
Overall, in-person inquiries experienced a significant increase throughout the period, becoming the most popular method by June. While telephone inquiries also showed an upward trend, though at a slower rate, those made via letter or email steadily declined.
In January, telephone was the most preferred method, with around 900 inquiries, followed by letter/email at approximately 800 requests and in-person ones at just over 400. Then, in-person inquiries saw a sharp and continuous rise, overtaking the two remaining methods by April. By June, this category peaked at nearly 2,000 inquiries.
By contrast, the situation with the other two methods of communication varied significantly. Telephone inquiries fluctuated slightly during first three months but after remaining stable in April, their figures began to grow, reaching 1,600 inquiries by June. Meanwhile, letter and email requests followed a downward trend, falling from around 800 in January to just under 400 in May, stabilising at this mark until the end of June.
