Focusing on higher categories, the business services and finance, hotels and restaurant services sector is the largest, exporting 13.8 billion to the world, which is much higher than the 1.7 billion exported to the UK. Similarly, wholesale and retail shows a large result, with 8.2 billion exported globally compared to just 1.1 billion within the UK. Chemical and mineral products also shows high international demand at 9.5 billion.
The electrical and instrument engineering industry is the only one where exports to the rest of the UK with 4 billion are higher than exports to the rest of the world with 2.3 billion.
Regarding to sagriculture, forestry, fishing and mining remains the smallest sector in both categories, with the lowest total export values.
