Unfortunately, the current level of science and technology cannot provide high enough level of quality of life for each world population’s member. As a result, every day we hear and see news about crimes from almost every source of information. To address this issue, some believe that every kind of unlawful action should be punished in one equal way. From my point of view, it is not fare to give every criminal the same punishment independently of the circumstances.
Of course, some can say that fixed and severe sentence is much more efficient in terms of preventing others from commiting an action against the law. Or, maybe they think that every grand crime starts with something little or even, as it can seem, innocent. Such thoughts visit my mind from time to time as well.
However, from my point of view, it is not right to doom the child from a poor family, who stole an apple, and an unhonest politician, who stacked millions in his pockets, on the same ten years of prison. Such a policy, as I see it, will only make people in hard life situations angrier and push them to commit a really harmful actions right away.
In conclusion, it is hard to call our society a perfect one. Too many its members do not see other ways of overcoming challenges but acting against the law. Nevertheless, I find myself agreeing with those who claim that judges should include all details about the case making a decision about the guilt. I believe that it is one of the first steps towards eliminating crime in our world.
