The number declined dramatically after 1996 reaching the same number in 1989 which is 6,5 million and peaking again at 9 million after 2009.

Records of People who came to meet friends and family were the lowest in 1989, reaching nearly 3.3 million, whereas visitors targeting business were the highest after the holiday target in the same year, recording 5 million.
