People have different opinions on the role of women. Some believe they should be given equal rights and thrive in their careers while others think women should be stay at home mothers only. I firmly believe that women should have equal opportunities to compete in professional environments, and advance in their careers.
The idea of limiting a woman’s life’s vocation to simply homemaking ought to be in the distant past. Denying women opportunities merely on the grounds of gender discrimination is not only unjust but also circumvents their potential, and results in societal damage. Equal to men, women also have the potential to be active members of the workforce and gain professional recognition.
Gender stereotypes concerning what women can or cannot do and what fields women should choose or not, severely restricts their potential. This does not just affect women, but the lack of economic productivity and new ideas. Also, confining women to domestic duties only boosts existing stereotypes and deepens discrimination. A woman, irrespective of her gender, needs to be acknowledged and respected suitably based on the core principles of fairness and equity.
Empowering women by enhancing opportunity equality, enables them to actively participate in the workforce, to uphold their families and society as a whole. Elimination of obstacles capable of curtailing the optimum utilization of women is essential to empower and to ensure all-round success.
