The bar chart compares the four different measures of waste management in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and the UK.
It is noticeable that the figure for recycled method in the Netherlands was considerably high, despite minor percentages in the other three remaining countries. Additionally, the UK had the highest proportion of landfilled waste.
In the Netherlands, recycling was the most favorite method of dealing with waste, which accounted for nearly 70%. Ranked second was the measure of use as chemicals at 14%, followed by burning at 10%. While the proportion of landfilled waste in the Netherlands stood at just under 10%, this percentage was approximately five times higher in the UK. In contrast, all the remaining methods in the UK saw a moderate percent, just under 20% for each.
In both Italy and Spain, a similar figure for landfilled waste was seen at 40%, followed by burnt waste, at 22% and 30% respectively. While the waste used as chemicals accounted for lower percent than recycled waste in Italy, there was an opposite trend in Spain. Specifically, Italy had 18% for waste used as chemicals and 20% in the other, while Spain had a triple drop in turn.
