Overall, games take the largest share on both devices. However, people use smartphones more for social networking and utilities, while tablets are mainly used for gaming.
Looking at smartphones first, 35% of the time is spent on games, followed by social networking at 29%. Utilities such as apps and tools take up 20%, while music and videos account for 8%. Very little time is spent on news (3%) and other activities (5%).
For tablets, the time spent on games is much higher at 57%. Social networking is lower, at only 15%, and music and videos make up 13%. In contrast, utilities are just 3%, and news is 4%. Other activities take 8%.
