Some people argue that investing time in preparing meals on your own is a bad decision, because there are many convenience food options available that are easy and raped in preparation. This essay fully disagrees with that statement. I believe shot freshly cooked meals are far more healthy than preprocessed ready-to-eat food and that secondly, cooking meals on your own can save you a lot as convenience food is quite expensive.
While convenience food might be faster with regards to its preparation, it is proven to be unhealthy. Ready-to-eat meals are usually high in unhealthy nutrients like sugar fat or natrium to offer a great taste and to convince the customer to buy the product again. On the contrary, self prepared food can be made out of the best and healthiest ingredients to support a healthy diet. For instance, one can observe a huge difference between a freshly prepared salad and a convenience one. The convenience salad often contains a salad dressing that is high in sugar and fat. On the other hand, a salad that the customer would prepare on his own would not be made of so many bad nutrients. Besides the facet of health, convenience food is also cost intensive.
When it comes to the price of food, convenience food is proven to be far more expensive than meals that are prepared at home. Since convenience comes with the benefit of being fast to be prepared, companies leverage this factor and make the customers pay a premium. Conversely, meals that are prepared at home usually consist of basic ingredients, which are affordable. For example, the price of a ready-to-eat lasagna is 8€. However, the costs of preparing the same meal at home is only the half, so 4€.
In conclusion, although convenience food offers benefits like saving time and great taste, it is proven to be expensive and unhealthy. This does not apply to freshly prepared food and underscores the substantial advantages of preparing meals on your own.
