The table illustrates the data about the underground railway of six different cities. the data cosists of name of the city, opening date, kilometeres of the route and pessenger per year.
Overall, London was the first city to introduce the underground railway. The railway under the ground were introduced later in other cities. The number of passenger were high at the begining but later it decreased numerously.
The underground railway was first introduced in London in 1863 with the highest kilometres of routes (394 km). 775 millions of people travelled by this route every year. In 1900 this system was introduced in Paris with 199 Km of routes. The number of passenger travelled was 1191 million per year. Tokyo was the third city to implement this system. It only had 155 kilometers of routes which was decreasing as compared to the other railway system. Though there was a gradual decrease in routes, 1928 million people travelled by this railway which was the highest among all.
This system was further adopted by Washington DC in 1976 with 126 km long routes. 144 millions of people travelled throughout a year by the underground railway system. later in kyoto underground railway was introduced in 1981. This railway had only 11km of routes and 45 millions of traveller per year which was very minimal among all. In 2001 underground railway system was introduced in Los Angeles. This system contained only 28 kilometers of route and only 50 million of people travelled within a year.
