The illustrated line charts compare the proportion of total clothing exports in four different countries over the period of 14 years staring from 2000.
Overall, the data shows a declining trend in clothing exports for all regions, except for china, which exhibited a significant growth during the examined period. In addition, China maintained the highest export share whilst the United States recorded the lowest.
In 2000, the figure for European Union and Asia (without China) both commenced at approximately 30%, after which the latter one dropped considerably to about 16% in 2002, before rising up again and ending the period at 20%. Meanwhile, the former one declined gradually to just over 20% in 2014.
Regarding the remaining countries, the share of exported clothing in China started at about 14% in 2000, after which it increased sharply to take over European Union to become the largest exporter and continued to grow to reach a peak of over 35% in 2014. In contrast, the figure for USA was just over 10% in the first year, followed by a steady decrease to about 5% in the end of the period.
