Overall, people raning the age group of 15-39 were highest in numbers in both the years, people with the age of 65+ saw the highest percentage incremnet in year 2012, while population under 15 and 15-39 were the ones that saw and overall fall in the percentage change. While, people in the age bracket of 40-64, was the second highest in terms of size.
In 2011, people who fall in the age bracket of 15-39, were 1,577,256 which fell by 0.2 percent in the year 2012, to 1,574,102, while still it was higest among any other age group in both years. People in Zew Zealand who were under 15, were 898,160 in the year 2011, which also saw a slight fall of 0.2 percent to 896.364 in the year 2012. Population under 15 and population ranging from 15-39 had the same amount of percent change of 0.2 percent.
People who are over 65 had the highest percentage change, where it was 573,946 in 2011 and rose to 596,903, in the year 2012. While people ranging 40-64 years of age bracket were witnessed second highest increase of 0.6 percent which was 1,331,907 in 2011, before a sligh increase to 1,339,898. While the total population of New Zealand increased by 0.6 percent.
