Advancements in agriculture has proven to be quite advantageous for life on earth. Despite augmented food production, most of the public suffers from starvation and malnutrition. This can be resolved if farmers are provided with the right material and resources.
In spite of scientific agricultural techniques, certain sections of society suffer from starvation, more specifically the marginalized communities. The reason I believe this occurs is due to the economic disparity between prosperous and poor farmers. With the development of new technology, only rich and prosperous farmers can afford to implement these methods and techniques. Destitute farmers fear applying this new technology as they lack financial incentive and initiative needed to do so. Furthermore, struggling farmers are not provided with the necessary education needed to implement such technology due to language barriers and a narrow perspective on farming. For example- In the 1960s, India started an initiative known as the green revolution. This program revolutionized the future of farming in India. But, only the prosperous farmers could benefit from this as the poor farmers lacked the required funds and were uneducated.
If proper measures are taken to ensure every farmer has the necessary technology, there will be a positive influence on the starvation/ famine difficulty most countries face. Firstly, any new advanced technology should be subsidized. Subsidized technology gives an opportunity to each and every farmer in the country to further crop production. With an increase in crop production, foods prices will significantly reduce making it more economical and accessible to every section of society. Secondly, these farmers should be properly educated on technology utilization. When they gain the required knowledge, they will not shy away from any recent technological development. Therefore, this will increase crop yield, which implicitly prevents malnutrition or starvation.
Many people around the world still go hungry as a result of high food prices and lack of crop production. Due to difficulties faced by farmers, it explicitly affects food consumption around the world. With proper financial assistance and education, this never-ending predicament can be effectively resolved.
