In recent years, it’s seen that children below the age 18 is addicted to internet a lot. Frequent discussions in media has shown that this has effected the practical thinking and social skills of students. However, this issue can be tackled by educating them about the reality and by providing support.
Technology can be boon or bane to the society, it depends on how we make use of them. Although, its been the backbone of countries development, unrestricted use could lead to consequences and this is mostly faced by the young generations. Youngsters are enjoying the world of internet without having proper guidance, even small kids are aware of how to remove parental control from social media. However, parents have no control over what their children do when they have mobile phones with them. For instance, a 13-year old kid downloaded an illegal game from third-party website and they instructed him to commit suicide. Even though, he knowingly installed and signed the agreement with the application, it was because of his lack awareness about the dark side of the internet.
Every problem has solution and we can over come this issue by educating students about the merits and demerits on relining more on computers. Conducting seminars about how to use internet, supporting them to speak up about the current threads they are in due to fraud. Moreover, having a open conversation with children by parents would help them feel confident and in future they won’t hesitate to talk too if any problems arises.
To conclude, the significant reason for this is the change in lifestyle. A few years back children used to enjoy outdoor activities, but now a days they prefer to be indoor with a phone or computer in front of them. Encouraging them to take part in fun activities with friends, providing knowledge about the disadvantages of excess use of media and talking to them would ease the issue in a peaceful way.
