The line graph illustrates the proportion of tourists to Scotland who visited aquarium, castle, zoo, festival attractions in Edinburgh. Overall, the percentage of castle and zoo visitors showed an upward trend, while the proportion of tourists visiting an aquarium experienced a downward trend.
To begin with, castle visitors’ figure started at about 25% at the beginning of the period and peaked at approximately 45% in 1995, after showed a remarkable decrease by nearly 15% in 2010. However, visitors of castle remained the largest proportion among other attractions. Despite showing a significant increase, the figure for tourists who visited the zoo was the lowest at the end of the period. It started at 10 % and experienced an increase of 10% in 2010 and had some fluctuations.
20% of tourists went to aquarium initially, and the figure rose by about 15% in 1985. Following this, it had declined dramatically from 35% to nearly 10% by 2010. The share of people who went to festival was 30% in 1980, afterward it showed some fluctuations and remained relatively stable at the end of the period.
