The layouts depict the transformation of the remote part of Langley town between 1910 and 1950. In general, the town developed in terms of residential and commercial facilities.
The most visible alteration was at the central bottom of the town, as the wasteland and railway staffs’ cottages changed by environmental area. To the left side of map was mini houses, overtime this apartments changed to flats.
Opposite the Sherman park there used to be a large factory neighbouring a landfill site. However, they were transformed into Sherman mansions to make more apartments for citizens. Cafe has relocated to Laundry’s place and at the same time Laundry altered to the landfill sites’
The transformed town offered commercial conveniences on the bottom right corner. There is a row of stores where inhabitants can buy something for them. There used to be mini houses and railway workers’ cottages on the right side, which has replaced to the new street named “New lane”.
In summary, the Langley town has underwent extensive changes. A number of industrial areas knocked down and to the place of this built residential and commercial areas.
