The given map demonstrates the configuration of a public library over the period between 20 years ago and now.
According to the diagram, it can be clearly seen that the library has undergone various reconstruction, shifting from conventional book-lending space to multi-functional facility. Moreover, the modern features including computer room, lecture room, and self-service machines was built in place of reading area and recreational space.
Regarding the left part of the map. The leisure room containing CDs, videos, and computer games have been converted into dedicated children’s zone equipping with sofas, storytelling corner and books for children related to science fiction. Furthermore, the area for adult fictional literature was relocated to the other side of the map to give way to academic reference zone. This was followed by the reconstruction of reading rooms including newspapers and magazines to become the digital learning hub.
In terms of the remaining part of the diagram. To the top right corner of the map, the kids’ reading zone have been transformed into a seminar room, following by the shifting of adult non-fiction books to adult fiction collection and the information desk. The café and the self-service machines was built on the site of customer service counter. Additionally, the seating zone in the centre of the library was completely eliminated.
