The maps depict how Martin’s farm transformed after some development from 2014 until now.
Overall, the farm has witnessed significant changes, which are reflected by the advancement of infrastructure, during the process of transformation from traditional methods to modern techniques.
According to the map in 2014, the largest part of the farmland was used for growing sugarcane, including the barn and the pond were in the northeast and the southwest of the area respectively. On the top left-hand corner, there was a block of farm vehicles and on the opposite was the paddock, which made up a significant portion of the northeast. Below the south side of the paddock is the plum orchard, where one of the main products of the farm was grown.
In comparison, there have been substantial alterations in the layout of the farm now. The plum orchard has been relocated to the sugarcane field and expanded to a vast part of the arable land. Located in the centre of the farmland are processing plants, farm vehicles and warehouses, which play an important role in the modernization of farming methods. In the southeast of the plum orchard is the water tank, which replaces the pond to be the water reservoir for the crops. Furthermore, the relocation of the farm vehicles makes room for the office to be constructed. The plum orchard was replaced as well as some trees were cut down to make way for the new car park, and just next to it in the southwest is the car park. Especially, the paddock and the entrance have remained unchanged in the location during the period.
