Band 6+: The only reason people work hard is to earn more money. There are no other reasons to do it. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Many individuals believe that earning money is the only reason for working hard. I strongly disagree with this point of view.

Some people believe that many individuals work hard without earning money. Firstly, they believe that many people invest a lot of time and energy on doing jobs that boost their knowledge without any payment. For example, many students pursue intership programmes due to the fact that they can learn new thing and also can make the theoretical knowledge they have learned from universities more practical and techniqual, leading to learning practical knowledge. In addition, many do jobs without any payment to support poor people. Many people do volunteer jobs to assist people living in poor countries like Africa. Furthermore, while earning no money from these occupations, they do the jobs for ethical purposes.

On the other hand, some believe that the only reason behind working so hard is earning money. Firstly, many believe that without earnig money, living is impossible. Additionally, people need an accommodation or food to be able to be alive. Since staying in a place, weather renting or owning it and buying food need money, the major and only reason for working is earning money. In addition, many believe that rich people do not work anymore. This shows that because they have earned enough money there is no need to work. For instance, many wealthy families stop working when becoming rich and instead trying to do different entertainment acitivities.

However, I believe that it is possible to live without earning money. For example, there are numerous homeless people continuing living without having a place to live or food to eat. Moreover, if wealth families avoid doing jobs, the amount of money they have earned will decrease. Consequently, they may become poor after a while.

In conclusion, while many believe that the only reason behind working is earning money, others believe that learning and helping are also essential factors. Also, I strongly agree with the latter opinion.
