The chart showcases the global illiteracy rate in different regions of the world by gender for the year 2000.
Overall, south africa has the highest rate of females who cannot read and write and other developed countries has the lowest number of people which are illiterate in the region. Other countries showcases the increasing number of youths who are illiterate.
Developed countries have lowest numbers of illiterate proportion which is of only 1 and 2 in male and female respectively in the year 2000. Likewise sub-saharan africa, arab states and south asian countries have almost similar rate for women illiteracy that shows almost above 50 figures and men has fluctuating number in these three countries.
In caribbean region both the gender had almost similar rate but female were slightly higher by 2 portion. Comparing oceania region by other global countries, it had only 9 percentage however female were higher by 10 percentage in the year 2000.
