The last few decades have witnessed a remarkable growth in the popularity of online shopping, due to its wider range of products and easy-return policies, fostering competition with the classical shopping method. I firmly agree that the internet shopping has more advantages to offer for its users, regardless of individual methods’ own benefits and drawbacks.
To commence with the positive aspects of digital shopping, primarily, the broader range offers more options for the customers. In other words, users often have the flexibility to choose from a variety of collections, with only a few clicks on smart gadgets, enabling them to explore the global market according their needs. Furthermore, the increasing number of buyers enhancing businesses for online sellers over an extended period of time, thus providing them with a sense of relaxation. However, the internet shopping brings about some negative consequences such as increasing fraud rate and product damaging issues. Sellers often have to deal with scams and mishandling of shipments, as in the past few years people have found out several loopholes in the system, resulting losses in the online business.
On the other hand, retail stores offer more personalised experiences for their customers because judging a product by its eye-catching images is not worthwhile. Hence, physical verification of quality for any items is advisable. A bigger range of stock for limited number of customers often leads to decreases in profit for small shop owners and visiting an offline store requires time and energy, demonstrating the drawbacks of the traditional stores.
To encapsulate, although there are several positive aspects of conventional shopping method such as more personalised experiences, and some drawbacks of e-stores like higher scam and damage rates, I believe that the online shopping process has completely changed our perspectives about shopping concept, providing us with the access to the global market.
