It is argued by some individuals, that groceries should only be bought from the local shops nearby. This essay will discuss its benefits like its freshness and healthiness, and drawbacks when totally depended on it.
For those who are concerned about their health, buying food for them from the local vendors might be a good option. To illustrate, possibility of vegetables and fruits being fresh increases, when purchased from local market, as they are bought instantly. As a result, fresh food can avoid the chances of food poising, and hence, buyers will remain healthy. For example, in a situation, where a market is just 2 miles away from someone’s house, the probability of the food getting rotten ends. Therefore, they can eat healthy food.
In contrast, total depending on nearby shops can be a weak point, as it can lead to food shortage. In more words, due to climate changes, heavy or no rainfall occurs in some areas, which can either make the land dry or extremely moistures, respectively, which in turn can lead to no crop harvested. This scenario as whole can decrease the availability of food in that area. For instance, few years ago, in Odisha, India, there was a heavy rainfall, which resulted to very less or no irrigation in some areas of it, which created food scarcity over there.
In conclusion, while buying food items from the local vendors might turn out to be a good choice, as they are fresh and a healthy option, but completely depending on it will lead to food shortage, in case of sudden climate change.
