The pie charts illustrate five types of books being sold from 1972 to 2012.
As can be observed, the percentage in selling adult’s fiction books took the majority in total, as opposed to the minority of that in biography books. What also stands out from the graphs is that children’s fiction attracted more readers compared to the reduction of other genres.
To be specific, adult’s fiction and biography reported exactly the same at 20% in 1972. Both are 5% apart in the next twenty years from the original data in which adult’s fiction increased to 25% while biography books decreased to 15%. At the end of the period, adult’s fiction became the best sellers at nearly a half, contrast to a mere 8% in biography ones.
There was a marginal rise in children’s fiction from one-fifth to a quarter during two decades, before making up 3% higher than that in 2012. One striking feature is the rate of travel books and others being sold which witnessed a moderate fall down to a tenth and 12% in 2012, respectively.
