Overall, the spendings on higher education and environmental services experienced upward trends, while the opposite was true for the remaining groups. Additonally, higher education expenditure recorded the highest expenses over the surveyed time.
In 1980, the amount of money spent on higher education was 35% compared to only 4% on environmental services 4% and 6% on other. Moreover, the allocation of money on K-12 education accounted for a quarter of the total. Finally, the spending on transportation was 16%. 2% higher than the spending on health and human resources.
Over two decades, higher education expenditure stood at 40%, after peaking at 45% in 1990.
Similarly, the expenses on transportation climed to 22%, in comparison with 9% on environmental services, despite of witnessing a dramatical decrease of 10% in 1990. In contrast, there were slight decreases, with K-12 education spending reaching at 18% and health and human resources accounting at 10%. While the figure for other expenditure stood at a minimal 1% in the last year of the period.
