In 1996, 44% of British children learned how to play instrument. The figure rose sharply to three – quarters after two decades.
In the first year, the figure for children who played the piano around 30%, but it decreased slightly to around 25% in 2016. Meanwhile, the proportion that played the keyboard increased just over 20% and it climbed to a third. Violin and Acoustic guitar became less popular during the period of 20 years, especially Acoustic guitar felt by hard from 8% to 4%. In contrast, electric guitar rose in popularity, from 1996 to 2016.
