Overall, the most significant category was walking because of the leading spot of three years in the survey, while the least popular was golf. Otherwise, while the proportion of swim, rugby had an increasing trend throughout the years, the others showed a contrasting phenomenon.
In 1995, over 40% of people in the UK took part in walking, leading to it becoming their most favorite sport. After three times of examination, it still stood at the highest place with nearly 45%. Right below walking was swimming which started at above 20% before rising to approximately 25% in 2005. Taking the third position was rugby, the formal percentage of participants in rugby was nearly 25%, after that it decreased to 20% before launching to the same proportion of swimmers in the last survey.
The number of Snooker players in the UK was the second highest in 1995 with a percentage of about 30%, right below walking but decreased to 23% in 2005. Tennis was the second lowest percentages of all with nearly 30% in 1995, both 2000 and 2005 were similar in determination to over 20%. Golf was the least percentage of all categories with the percentage of between 15% and 20%.
