There is no doubt that transportation plays a crucial role in national development, and while some people argue that government should spend more money on roads, I firmly believe that funds should be used for railways, due to the time efficiency and economic growth.
One compelling reason why I support this view is that it will help a greater time efficiency. Dedicate more money on railways means people will likely to use train for daily transportation. Train can transport many people and goods at the same time, which helps reduce the number of cars on the road. As a result, traffic jam can be minimize and makes the roads run more smoothly. For instance, in Japan, they develop their railways system and create a high speed train such as the Shinkansen that shorten travel time.
Furthermore, railway system promote economic growth. Well develop railways can improve connectivity between countries, result in an easier travel and exportation goods. For example, China has modern railways that allow them to have lots of visitors and improve their tourism industry, which leads to national economic growth. In addition to this, with a modern railways, people will not need to buy private cars, so people can save it to buy other more essential things and also maintain economic equality.
Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that government should allocate money in railways rather than roads. Even though roads are important for short distance travel, however investment in railways offer more benefit, such as time efficiency and economic growth.
