The table illustrates the proportion of people using distinct mobile phone functions over the four-year period from 2006 to 2010.
It is clear that making calls was the primary reason why individuals used their mobile phones. However, there was a marked increase in other mobile phone features between 2006 and 2010, particularly doing Internet searches and recording video.
According to the table, in 2006 the highest percentage of mobile phone functions was making calls, standing at 100. The next most popular mobile phone features were text messaging (73%) and taking photos (66%). By contrast, there were no figures in searching the Internet and recording video.
On the other hand, the four following years, there was a slight decline in the make calls feature, decreased to 99%, whereas, taking photographs and sending messages saw a steady growth over 75%. Specially, there was a significant increase in accessing Internet searches and recording video, in 2010 jumped to 73% and 35% respectively.
