The table compared the proportion of individuals using different types of mobile phone services across three distinct years: 2006, 2008, and 2010.
Overall, it can be seen clearly from the table that most features witnessed an upward trend towards the end of the period, except gaming and making phone calls in the last year. In addition, making calls topped the list which was the most popular service people used throughout the period.
Diving deeper, in 2006, the tables show that making phone calls was the most commonly used feature, standing at 100% before decreasing by 1% in the last year of the period (still at the top of the list). A similar pattern, playing games rose sharply from 17% to 42% between 2006 and 2008, but then slightly dropped to 41% in 2010, making it the second feature to lose users in the final period. In contrast, text message rose steadily by 6% from 73% in 2006 to 79% in 2010, which was the second most popular function. Similarly, taking photos increased significantly from 66% in 2006 to 76% in 2010. Playing music also grew gradually from 12% to 26% over the period.
Turning to the features that no data was available for people engaging in Internet searches or recording videos in 2006. The most striking growth was in internet use, which jumped from 41% in 2008 to 73% in 2010 – almost doubling. Similarly, video recording surged from 9% to 35% over the same period, about nearly four times compared to the data in 2008.
