The pie chart measure the percentages of energy capacity in gigawatts (GW) in 2012 with the projection for 2030.
Overall, it can be seen that the proportion of fossil fuels and other renewables is predicted to fall significantly while the percentages of solar and wind is forecasted to grow sharply. The percentage of fossil fuels started the highest and it is predicted to stay the same, and flexible capacity remained lowest and this energy is forecasted to stay.
Fossil fuels represented 64% of the total energy capacity in 5.579gw in 2012. Although this figure is expected to fall significantly by about a quarter in 2030. Additionally, Solar energy is predicted to grow sharply from 2% to 12%. The percentage of Nuclear is forecasted to decrease slightly from 6% to 5% in 2030.
The percentage of fossil fuels was 64% which was the highest proportion among all sources. Furthermore, this figure is estimated to fall sharply a quarter in 2030, but it will remain dominant source. In contrast, solar is projected to rise dramatically, from just only 2% to 18%. On the other hand, flexible capacity recorded the lowest share in both years, it is anticipated to increase from 1% to 2%>
