The two given charts illustrate how energy is consumed in an average Australian household and how much greenhouse gas is emitted into the environment which result from this energy use.
From the data, it is evident that heating is the most common energy used in Australian homes whereas water heating creates the largest proportion of greenhouse gases.Meanwhile, lighting and cooling are two sources with the smallest percentage in both charts.
In terms of energy consumption, heating is the highest at 42%, followed by water heating at 30% .Other appliances account for 15% and refrigeration takes up 7% .Lighting and cooling are the least used energy, at only 4% and 2% respectively.
Regarding emissions, water heating results in 32% of greenhouse gas emissions and it is also the largest.Heating is the smallest, which contributes only 15% despite it uses the most energy.Other appliances produce 28%, exactly twice as high as its consumption.
It is clear that heating requires a lot of energy but the result is in the small amount of emissions. While other appliances and refrigeration emit the highest amount of emissions but need less energy.
