Many people argue that public art funding should be provided by governments. While others believe that other sources are considered to support it. This essay presents a both perspectives on government and other parts supports for this issue.
On the one hand, public art has a crucial impact for the society because it can bring more benefits. The existance of the arts, such as mural and sculpture, can give advices and educate public about important thing in this region. For example, mural sends a serious messages in order to remember individuals about several values in life. Furthermore, Tugu Pahlawan, knowing as a popular sculpture in Surabaya represents a serious fighting moment of their occupants because they wanted to defense their independence. Thus, these arts are valuable objects which should be give more attention by governments.
On the other hand, other parts like private sectors or individual has similar responsibility to support it. They can give contributions by giving human resources to be responsible for handling these projects. For example, the workers can be divided into designer, creator, and publisher, so, they can contribute based on their skill to support its existance. Hence, public participation to foster the objects is actually needed, although they are not the owner of it.
In conclusion, while government are responsible for keeping the impact of public art, it is equally important for other parts to contribute as well. Therefore, in my opinion, the collaboration between government and other parts to preserve the object would strike to a balance.
