Australia’s population figures are shown in the table and pie chart, including whether people prefer to live in rural or urban areas.
Overall, it is clear that Australians make up the largest part of the population, followed by significant numbers of other and British citizens, and smaller numbers of Chinese, Dutch, and New Zealanders. Most people in all groups, especially Chinese people, live in cities.
The pie chart shows that Australians represent 73% of the country’s population. Other people account for 14%, British citizens 7%, New Zealanders 3%, Chinese 2%, and Dutch people only 1%.
Although 80% of Australians live in urban areas, a notable part still live outside cities. Similarly, 83% of Dutch people live in towns or cities, while 17% live in rural areas. The proportion of British and New Zealanders living in cities is very similar, at about 90%. Finally, almost all Chinese people, 99%, live in urban areas.
