Whilst some people say that punishment is wrong for children development, I do believe that punishment is essential for children to justify their actions in the early years of their lives.
On one hand, many children who got punishment when did wrong things shows positive changes in their behaviors. It could be seen that some kids might not know if their actions are right or not. Perhaps, when they made things worse, parents should lead them into the right paths. The punishment did not need to be serious, however. Parents should punish them, for example, prohibiting children doing these actions, warning them in the future if they make the same mistakes again. Some researchers have pointed out that, in Asia, more children learn from their wrong actions and avoid doing them again because of the punishment from their parents than others from the remaining continents.
However, it can be seen that some children without punishment when having done things wrong could develop their behaviors in negative ways. Punishment plays an important role in guiding children. Therefore, without it children could not be afraid of making mistakes again. Time to time, this could lead to very bad results in the way children act. Some Vietnamese psychologists have shown that, the number of crimes have been done by teenagers under the age of 18 are increasing in Vietnam due to the lack of educating and punishing from their parents when they were kids.
Punishing is a good way to educate children, but parents need to do it right. Depending on how children actions were, they should give a punishment that is suitable for the case. In conclusion, punishment is needed for the development of children, but it need to be done suitably.
