The table illustrates the number of people using the seven most common airlines in the United States in two years, namely 1995 and 2005.
Overall, all the types of airlines listed welcomed more people in 2005. In addition, Delta Air Lines was the most popular airline, while the most significant growth rate was seen in JetBlue Airways.
Regarding the most popular airlines, in 1995, Delta Air Lines topped the list with 500,700 people and remained in the same position in 2005 with 1,064,000 people, an increase of 113%. While the number of people taking Southwest Airlines stood at 400 thousand, as opposed to 300 thousand for United in 1995, these figures were lower at 240 thousand and 100 thousand people in 2005, respectively. Additionally, the number of passengers using American Airlines had the second highest growth rate (127%), increasing from 150,000 in 1995 to 340,000 in 2005.
With regard to the remaining airlines, the number of travelers on JetBlue Airways hit a low of 86,000 in 1995, whereas the growth rate peaked at 249% to 300,000 in 2005. Alaska Airlines in 1995 had 120,000 passengers, 20,000 more than Hawaiian Airlines. However, in 2005, Hawaiian Airlines was only 7 thousand people lower than Alaska Airlines, with 250 thousand (114%) and 257 thousand (150%) people, respectively.
