Band 6+: People were happier in previous generations compared to now. To what extent do you agree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some people believe that humans in the past were happier than they are today. However, I think that happiness is a broad topic because everyone experiences happiness differently. In every generation, there have been both satisfied and dissatisfied individuals.

Moving on to the comparison older generations think that newer age groups are happier than older ones because they live in better times, and they have more opportunities. But they do not think right these possibilities were created by them, and for them it is a good opportunity. But humans, as creatures are always displeased with life, and for this reason, younger age groups are not happier than older ones.

Therefore I think that older generations are actually happier than the newest. This is because they created opportunities for themselves, and now they feel more satisfied. But when they were younger, they might not have been as happy because they did not have the same opportunities that exist now. Even though the younger generation has more possibilities today, it does not necessarily mean they are happier, as true happiness depends on one attitude towards life, not just external factors.

In conclusion while some people think that younger generations are happier because they have more opportunities, I believe that real happiness does not come only from what we have. Older generations who worked hard to create these opportunities, might feel more satisfied with their lives. In the end, happiness depends on how people see their life, not just on the things they have.
