The maps illustrate the waterfront area of a town called Darwin, which underwent certain changes from 2009 to 2014.
Overall, the entire area underwent substantial development, with most industrial areas being replaced by green elements. Also, educational and sporting buildings were introduced to meet public needs.
In 2009, the waterfront area was small with a few housing facilities, a large industrial area, and a handful of trees. There was a big industrial area in the southern part, with a few residential buildings above it. Moving to the centre of the area, a footpath encircled a small industrial area, featuring some trees and a lake. While the eastern part of the area was located in a fishing area and two swimming pools, the western and northern sides featured a school and a convention center.
While certain areas remained unchanged, most of the landscape was modified, with new amenities and residential buildings. Most of the developments took place in the southern side of the waterfront area, where the industrial area was reforested to improve greenery. A new harbour was also added to the seaside with a long footpath from the western side leading to it, and a noble swimming pool was introduced on the northwestern edge to enhance the healthy lifestyle of the dwellers. A university building was introduced to the western side, and the number of residential buildings was doubled, from 3 to 6. Finally, the school, convention centre, fishing area, and swimming pool remained largely untouched.
