The table compares four different leisure time activities in terms of popularity among adults in urban and rural areas in 1990 and 2010, with figures shown in percentages.
From an overall perspective, the percentage of adults who chose reading accounted for the largest proportion irrespective of area and period, while the total percentage of animated play ranked the lowest out of the activities. Additionally, the smallest friction was recorded among adults in urban areas who took part in photography.
Focusing on the upward trends, whereas the disparity between the proportion of adults in urban areas and that of rural areas who participated reading was exactly 10% in 1990, the gap shrunk and the figures equaled in 2010. Moreover, the figure for photography stood out from other activities with an equal increase (10%) in both areas.
Turning to the remaining activities, the proportion of adults who were interested in animated play remained at the same level in urban areas, however, the figure for rural areas decreased from 18% to 14% over the timeframe. The opposite trend observed for playing, the figure stagnated at 26% in rural areas, despite decreasing by 7% in urban areas during the period.
