The line graph depicts how much three sources, namely industry, transport and households contributed to air pollution in the United Kingdom from 1990 to 2005.
Overall, it is evident from the diagram that while two categories demonstrated continious decline, only transport experienced a rise towards the end of the period. As a result, industry, which remained the largest air pollutant for most of the time span, was outraced by transport and ranked second at the end.
Looking at the weakest figures, both households and transport were responsible for 1 mln tonne in 1990; the former source plateued at this level for 99 years, while the latter one increased sharply by 50% in 1993, before witnessing minor fluctuations. Later, in 1999, househols began to decline gradually and reached 0 tonnes towards the close of 105 years. In contrast, transport saw an opposite tendency, tripling in its air pollution emmision by the 2005.
Regarding industry, it accounted for the 75% of all pollution level in the Uk in 1900, however it faced a downward trend throughout the whole time period. Moreover, in 2002, it was surpassed by transport and dropped to 2 mln tonnes in 2005. Likewise, the figure for the total air pollution amounts reduced by 3 mln tonnes.
