The illustration depicts the various stages of a common butterfly’s existence.
Overall, the cycle is a life cycle which consists of 5 stages: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, young adult’s emergence and full grown adult.
At the beginning of the cycle, egg hatches into a caterpillar’s larva, which grows substantially in it’s size. Subsequently, it transforms into a chrysalis, where it morphs into a butterfly.
Young adult emerges with wet, soft wings. When the butterfly fully dries them off, it spread it’s wings and finally enter into the adult-butterfly life.
