Band 6+: some children spend a long time on their smartphones. why is this? is it a positive or a negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is true that some children prefer spending a huge amount of their time on mobile phones, since it is much more entertaining compared to the other activities like running or riding a bicycle. I strongly believe that this is a negative approach, because children are more and more keeping away from their family and lose the opportunity of learning social skills.

The most important reason why children tend to be engaged with their gadgets is that their devices are engrossing. There are a wide ranges of video games on their mobiles that are charming, persuading them to get involved in such games. Moreover, the possibility of playing online and making social friends could be the other reasons why children spend their daily time on their electronic device. For example, quite a few children worldwide utilize game sites to spend their time with their like-minded and counterparts. These sites induce children to take part in such games like online chess or football by offering a prize for the winners.

I personally think that this attitude is significantly detrimental. By surfing on their gadget like googling or playing via their phones, children may forget interact with their family, that is the best and first element to learn social arts such as socializing with people appropriately and speaking their mind without fear. If you can have initial interaction and get along with your family members, then most probably you will get ready to enter a wider community to mix with other people and firmly give your own thoughts, since you have already learnt how to deal with these issues.

In conclusion, very young population think that spending their daily time on smartphones is properly occupied via their gadget. However, I hold the view that this idea has negative social consequences.
