Internet is the most effective way of communication nowadays. However, there is a debate on effect of internet on social interaction. I partially agree with the point of view that more the people spend time on internet, the less time they spend with real human beings.
In the past, people communicated with phones or letters. This takes time and cost. Nowadays, people communicate through internet in seconds even with their long-distance relatives or friends. For Example in our childhood we had to visit our grandparents to meet them after very long but now video calls make it easy to talk to them daily. Chat platforms such as Facebook help to communicate with new people around the world. When there is no internet people can’t receive any news on time but now due to internet platforms we receive all the news on time. In short, internet eliminates geographical barriers.
On the other hand, if we focus on the negative effects of internet on social interaction especially young generation who mostly use internet they don’t interact with real human beings even with their family. This leads to emotional distances with their loved ones. Another drawback is that if a person doesn’t interact real human beings he will face difficulty in interacting.
Besides its drawbacks, I think that the pros of internet balance its cons. However, we should spend less time on the internet and more with real human beings especially with our family and friends. So there must be equivalence between our real life and digital life.
