The map illustrates the changes in Frenton from 1990 to 2012. Overall, there were not many new buildings constructed during these 22 years, and the infrastructure did not change significantly. However, many facilities were modified or expanded.
The buildings on the west side of High Street underwent the most significant changes, while the east side did not experience major transformations.
In terms of expansion, the hospital greatly increased in size, nearly doubling its footprint since 1991. Similarly, the old bank underwent a minor expansion and was transformed into a restaurant. Throughout this period, numerous places have changed: trees in the southeast became a technopark, the theater was converted into a cinema, shops transformed into a supermarket, and a cafe was replaced by a hotel. Additionally, playing fields that were once lined with trees were replaced by blocks of flats.
On the other hand, some buildings have retained their original charm, such as the school, library, and parts of High Street. Notably, the only new development that occurred in the past 22 years was the addition of plants in the northeast.
