Overall, work accounted for the highest number of miles travelled among men and women, while that of day trips recorded the lowest figures. The figures for men were higher than those of women for work, day trip and entertainment, except for meeting friends, taking children to school and shopping, which showed a reverse pattern.
There was a biggest gap in the figures of work, while men travelled 35,000 miles for work, which was 5,000 miles more than women. The figure of entertainment in men recorded at 15000 miles, while that of women was nearly 12000 miles. Day trips accounted for the lowest mileage with 10000 miles and approximately 6000 miles for men and women, respectively.
In contrast, the figure for shopping in women was higher than that of men with 30000 and around 27500, correspondingly. Similarly, the number of miles used for taking children to school in women was about 27000 miles, while men travelled nearly 25500 miles. Finally, men used approximately 22500 miles for meeting friends and women recorded a higher figure at 25000 miles.
